Fitna

Posted in islam, religion, video by jedyoong on March 29th, 2008

ORIGINAL POSTHot film on Islam - Fitna. Muslims, care to enlighten me on inaccuracies? Were the verses quoted out of context? The film shows the darker, violent side of Islam. Some argue that Islam by nature is violent as it promotes jihad to Islamise the world. Infidels especially Jews are to be killed. True? Or more propaganda? If true, the film is very disturbing.

Anwar on Indonesian TV

Posted in anwar ibrahim, politics, video by jedyoong on March 27th, 2008

One of the best interviews of him I’ve watched so far. He looks much more relaxed than he was on Hard Talk. He speaks really well and is a natural. Who else do we have now? Sigh. Realpolitik is so, erm, REAL….You gotta give it to him. :) He has created history, AGAIN. Yes, a host of other factors but undeniable that he was the catalyst.

OOOOPPPPssss. Please excuse the fitnah in the beginning. The video is made by kpmu.net. I really don’t see how this interview would work AGAINST Anwar…

More police intimidation at Anwar ceramah

Posted in anwar ibrahim, democracy, elections, police, politics, umno, video by jedyoong on February 17th, 2008

Is the BN so gutless? If they are SOOOOOOOOO invincible, why don’t they just let the Opposition hold ceramahs (talks/rallies), demonstrate on the streets, be featured in the media especially on TV, or give flowers to the PM?

Also, PM said he had “forgotten” about Anwar. In this video, it appeared otherwise. Maybe the PM has forgotten but his underlings are watching Anwar very tightly.

Have to give it to Anwar. All these years fighting. He is a fighter. Personality traits like that inspire me, especially when our PM seems to be amnesic, lacking in political will and a liar.

PAS Campaign Video: Harga Naik, Jenayah Naik, Semua Naik

In the name of freedom of expression. The rakyat should have access to enough information to decide for themselves.

Jed Yoong does not support PAS or Islam. But PAS is a political party and Islam is an ideology. More important are people and relationships. Holding different beliefs should not mean that we can’t be friends. Democracy is about diversity, expression and freedom.

Ong asks speculators to furnish evidence

MCA president was probably fed-up of speculations and accusations that he “held the knife” that stabbed Chua. So he said everyone was equal before the law and hence, those who accuse and speculate should provide evidence, adding that the party was also “very curious” as to who the culprits were. On the reason for not conducting an internal investigation, he said this was because the police were “independent” and “professional”.

VIDEO: SCC Bill deferred for further public consultation

Thanks Kit for the plug on my post on the Public Consultation last night.

From Malaysiakini today:

BREAKING NEWS

SCC bill debate postponed
Dec 18, 07 3:44pm

The debate on the controversial Special Complaints Commission (SCC) Bill has been postponed until next year to grant MPs and NGOs more time to study the bill.

According to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Abdul Aziz, the cabinet unanimously decided on the matter during a meeting this morning.

“We allow the postponement for more time to study the bill. The government is listening. No point rushing through the bill,” he said.

The decision was conveyed to Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang, who was at a press conference in Parliament with several non-governmental organisation representatives requesting a withdrawal of the SCC bill.

VIDEO from parliament this morning. Nazri spoke, like a gentlemen, I must say.

VIDEO:HINDRAF:Uthaya’s farewell message to supporters

Posted in ISA, elections, macam2ada, police brutality, politics, racism, video by jedyoong on December 13th, 2007

I know some quarters have condemned Hindraf for its claim of “ethnic cleansing”. For my take, go here. Whatever it is, perhaps this group of marginalised Hindus do feel that their culture and religion are being systematically destroyed. I believe they have a right to complain. And then it’s up to the relevant authorities to INVESTIGATE. It’s jumping the gun to say that such a thing never happened or isn’t happening. If it is true, do you expect our Government to admit it so readily? At the same time, its a democratic freedom for those who feel angry about Hindraf’s claims to express their emotions. But we must never let emotions cloud the rule of law and Hindraf’s claims should be investigated.

Today, they have detained Hindraf leader and lawyer P Uthayakumar along with four others under the ISA. Malaysiakini has the EXCLUSIVE interview of his farewell message to supporters.

VIDEO: Kit Siang, Karpal condemns ISA

Posted in ISA, dap, democracy, police brutality, politics, racism, stoopid, umno, video by jedyoong on December 13th, 2007

From Lim Kit Siang’s BLOG:

The invocation of the Internal Security Act (ISA) to arrest five Hindraf leaders is most deplorable and marks another violation of the pledge by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to promote democracy, uphold human rights and defend the rule of law.

This is because the infamous detention-without-trial Internal Security Act is the very antithesis of the rule of law.

The five detained under the ISA are P. Uthayakumar, M Manoharan, R Kenghadharan, V Ganabatirau and T Vasanthakumar.

If the government has clear and convincing evidence that the five had committed grave offences, they should be charged in court allowing them an open trial and an opportunity to defend themselves instead of being incarcerated under a regime where proof is not necessary at all.

The return of the ISA is another regression of Malaysia to the dark era of human rights violations which can only tarnish the country’s international reputation and image.

‘M’ For Malaysia: Past, Present & Future BY CHONG ZHE MIN

DISCLAIMER: Jed Yoong condemns violence and acts of terrorism against the Government. This video should be viewed as a creative expression of the pent-up frustrations of the rakyat.

I believe under the current Barisan Nasional government, our country is operating very much like a police state as described in George Orwell’s 1984 and the movie ‘V’ for Vendetta. Our freedoms are suppressed in the name of ‘national unity’ while an apartheid government oppresses the very people they claim to help. After 50 years, the New Economic Policy has failed to significantly raise the Malays share of the nation’s wealth. At the same time, our non-competitiveness crippling is our economy — investors prefer to put their money in other countries like Thailand and Vietnam and besides petroleum products and other natural resources, we still do not offer any unique product or service that has global demand. This is damning evidence that the social re-engineering has failed despite the Government’s propaganda.

We, the rakyat, can’t let the Barisan Nasional government threaten us with violence anymore. The more they threaten us, the more the country descend into chaos, the more the reason to VOTE OPPOSITION. We don’t need the Barisan Nasional nanny government to BABYSIT US. They can’t even build our public buildings properly - they keep falling apart! What more the country?
