MCA stuck in ghetto politics

Posted in mca, politics, self-help, siu sei yan, stoopid by jedyoong on April 8th, 2008

OOooPpppPPPPPppPPPPS. Forgot about this Chinese-ed majority party — the MCA.

Ong Ka Chuan reportedly said that party members cannot co-operate with a non-BN government.

WOW, that’s gonna endear voters to the party. More will just say kolot. Are the Ong brothers bringing the party down?

Then there was that statement from Ka Chuan a few days back fudging the fact that many new village residents still don’t have land titles. Some of them have lived there, well, since they relocated them to combat the communist insurgency after Merdeka.

The ghetto political party doesn’t seem to be coping with the new reality. At least UMNO pandai berpolitik and leaders have made all sorts of grunts about “akar umbi”, “rakyat”, “reformasi”, “demokrasi”, etc. But MCA is acting like sore losers by directing party members not to serve as councilors in the PR state governments. Or maybe I can’t understand them ‘cos the news is reported in the Chinese press?

Anyway, MCA doesn’t really represent many people these days…..Soooo, we can ignore them.

DAP, let’s remember who Wong Chun Wai is

Posted in bn, dap, macam2ada, mca, media, politics by jedyoong on March 18th, 2008

He is the head honcho behind MCA’s and BN’s election media campaign out to “destroy” the Opposition, especially DAP.

He is also the guy whose paper didn’t print photos of the massive crowds at DAP ceramahs but instead those of some crowd in a BN rally in which Pak Lah attended.

His paper also published endless character assassinations on Anwar Ibrahim.

And that photo of Lim Kit Siang with a PAS flag towards polling date.

Why didn’t he interview Kit Siang, Guan Eng, Anwar, etc before the election?

Let’s not pretend Wong is some impartial, professional journalist. He didn’t even have the balls to ask his own questions in his interview with Guan Eng. You think readers can’t email Guan Eng these days to ask him such matters?

Stanley Koh on MCA

The former head of research and planning of MCA seems to be enjoying himself in his cutting analyses of the besieged party and its president, Ong Ka Ting. Even former Health Minister, Chua Jui Meng, who challenged Ong for the presidency in 2004, has joined the party.

Who does the MCA represent now? Not the Chinese…..

Posted in elections, joke, macam2ada, mca, politics, siu sei yan by jedyoong on March 12th, 2008

Malaysiakini reported that Ong Ka Ting said: “And to ensure that the Chinese representation is continued in the new government, I will be making recommendations to the prime minister soon.”

Yo, bro. Your party dun represent many people these days. The Chinese have rejected you. So you are now whose representatives? Appointed by UMNO means? UMNO-lah.

DAP Ceramah 2
DAP ceramah in Penang last night. Susan Loone reports 30,000 turned up in the party’s colours (red and white) to listen to Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng. Photo from TV Smith

Star:

The MCA has appealed to Chinese voters to support the party, saying a vote for the MCA would be a vote for the voice of the community in the Cabinet and state governments.

Malaysiakini:

A week later, Ong changed his tune and appealed for voters to “show mercy” and not allow MCA to “lose too badly”.

“If you have five people in your household, I plead to you to give one vote to MCA. We need your support to serve the people and bring about development.

“In our last outing, we lost three Kinta Valley seats. I hope that this time it won’t be so bad. We will fight for every vote until the last minute,” he told reporters.

JED YOONG: Remember to KICK MCA OUT OF GOVERNMENT. THEY WON’T BE THE CHINESE VOICE. AND THEY ARE CERTAINLY NOT MY VOICE. They only know how to enrich themselves and cronies while non-bumiputera rights are snatched away and UMNO tramples on us. SAY NO TO THE VOICE OF UMNO.

MCA says 2,300 scholarships for non-bumis since 2000

Posted in democracy, elections, macam2ada, mca, media, mind control, politics, scam, siu sei yan, stoopid by jedyoong on February 28th, 2008

WOW. Huge ad today in The Star. It said:

2,300 non-bumiputera students obtained full JPA scholarships to study overseas between 2000 and 2007. A marked increase compared to only 100 students before the the year 2000.

While the Opposition put on a show, MCA worked.

1. Between 2000 to 2007. Does that include 2000 and 2007 which makes it 8 years and 287.5 per year? If not, it will be 6 years and 383.3 per year. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Is the MCA taking the piss? Are they PROUD of this?

2. Only 100 students before the year 2000. Is that 100 a year? Or since Merdeka? Since the NEP? Apa-lah..

3. Non-bumiputera. So how many Chinese, Indians and etc? Come on.

The tagline: Working Quietly. Effectively. For Results.

Does the MCA mean working quietly and effectively for themselves, their families and cronies for results? So sorry but this counter spin for their general spinelessness to protect their contracts is lame.

I think this is hardly an achievement. Is the MCA sabo-ing themselves? Did some rival faction put this ad out?

Looks like DAP’s chili padi. BN is so bankrupt of ideas man. Can’t they even get someone with an original personality, character or just FACE????? The excessive PR on this “sweet-looking” candidate is nauseating. Even in beautiful Kelantan. And when I read Ng Yen Yen was her “mentor”, I just totally wrote “OH CAROL” off….!!!!!

Chan Kong Choy, an act of integrity or MCA politics?

Posted in democracy, elections, mca, politics, siu sei yan by jedyoong on February 22nd, 2008

Chan Kong Choy will not be contesting in the general election. Bravo.

Lest some see this as MCA housecleaning, let’s recall a bit of history. As part of a peace truce between Team A and Team B in the party, Chan from Team B was made deputy president and Transport Minister, a post that he held till parliament was dissolved. Team A’s nominee was Ong Ka Ting, who was made president and Housing and Local Government Minister. At that time, the most senior minister was Chua Jui Meng, who was Health Minister and a vice-president. After he lost the presidential election, Chua kinda just disappeared when his portfolio was passed to Chua Soi Lek. Rumour has it that relations soured between Ong and Soi Lek. In any case, Soi Lek resigned after DVDs of him having hot sex were distributed in Johor, where he is from.

Do you guys realise that recently all the bad news reported in The Star or even Malaysiakini has involved the Transport Ministry? I wonder who passed the Port Klang Free Zone news to The Sun or Malaysiakini. Accidents over accidents were reported.

All we see in The Star is Ong doing altruistic deeds like talking about the Lifelong Learning Programme, meeting some Chinese official in China, raising more funds for Chinese schools and more. Typically, in published photos, he is engaging in some humble, ordinary, mundane activity like laying bricks, operating a bulldozer and visiting old people in villages.

But what about Ong’s ministry? Hardly any news. What’s up with the Housing and Local Government Ministry? I believe he introduced some “build and sell” policy to prevent developers from running off with buyer’s money. Although welcomed by buyers, it causes significant financial strain to developers. Not sure what’s the update on this….

The Moneylenders Act introduced in 2003 is also under the ministry. Don’t ask why, probably ‘cos it’s a “Chinese problem”. So loan sharking under control? How many licensed moneylenders are there now? Have to say that Ong has tried to get financing for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which are mostly Chinese owned.

So what’s happening? No politics in MCA? Bad luck for Chan? Or is he paying for his incompetence?

Fong Po Kuan, a loss for DAP

Po Kuan Machap

I like Po Kuan. She is charming, friendly and passionate. I also believe she is sincere. Yes, I am big on sincerity.

Just before parliament ended its sitting last year, I met her at the lobby. She was upbeat and talked about celebrating the end of term before rolling up her sleeves for constituency work. It sure didn’t look like she was going to resign.

Then I read that news article in Malaysiakini about Po Kuan being forced out of her Batu Gajah parliamentary seat.

On Sunday morning, I asked a senior DAP MP who told me that the Malaysiakini report was “not true”. “We told them it’s not true and they still want to write. We are very angry with Malaysiakini,” she said with her hands flying in the air, clearly agitated, before rushing into her car to zoom off to her next campaign point.

Later in the morning at about 11, I SMS-ed Po Kuan to inform her that I’ll be posting that Malaysiakini’s report was inaccurate. Little did I know that she was in the middle of a Press Conference announcing her resignation. She told me not to write my report. I guess I can see why after reading another Malaysiakini report on her resignation later in the afternoon.

MCA Plus Points

Posted in elections, mca, politics by jedyoong on February 6th, 2008

Friends who read my blog will know that I’m disappointed with MCA’s performance and am encouraging everyone to kick the party out of government.

However, I must also be fair to them. So this post will highlight its contributions and significant achievements from my point of view as a rakyat and voter.

1. Free refreshments are served at most MCA events.

2. I quite like Fu Ah Kiow, our deputy minister of internal security. I think he has balls compared to the others. What caught my mind? The way he dealt with the May 13 book by Dr Kua. Although, I believe the books were initially confiscated from MPH, they were eventually allowed to be sold. He has also made some clever politically-correct statements in parliament about letting bloggers carry on expressing themselves within the rule of law. From my little knowledge of him, he seems to be a straightforward kinda guy.

3. Generally, I’ve met some new behind-the-scenes MCA people who impressed me with their achievements. One such person is INSAP Director, Fui. INSAP also seems to be a professional outfit. I don’t really know if it is professional but it looks like it.

4. MCA is quite active in social welfare matters. But I wish Michael Chong will stop appearing in the papers. After all these years and he hasn’t solved the problems? OooooOOOoooPPPPPppppSSssss! This is supposed to be a “MCA Plus Points” piece.

5. Wong Chun Wai is also a fairly liberal editor. His Cafe Latte Chat discusses issues within the constraints of the MSM. He has also spoken up for bloggers and media freedom consistently.

Any ideas guys? I am really trying to think up of some “Plus Points”. Thanks!

RM3.8mil for 15 schools vs RM20mil for ONE school

Posted in macam2ada, mca, mind control, pak lah, religion, umno by jedyoong on February 2nd, 2008

As I read today’s Star over breakfast, I wondered when the stories on MCA’s efforts in the Chinese school arena would stop. Already I had enough after reading a news article telling us that the BN had given Penang an “Ang Pow for 15 Schools”. How magnanimous. Page after page I read about how benevolent the Government had been and how much the MCA had done and was doing. Already for the past month, The Star had fed us stories about how “great” the MCA had been. And how “lucky” we were that we had “peace and stability”. We should be so grateful that UMNO didn’t slaughter us…..What a way to live — literally at knifepoint.

Then I remembered that about this time last year, Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi had approved RM20million of development funds for his former school — High School Bukit Mertajam.

Chinese schools in Penang get RM3.8mil
By CHRISTINA CHIN
sgchris@thestar.com.my

PENANG: It was early festive cheer for the Chinese community here as MCA and Gerakan leaders presented government aid worth RM3.8mil to 15 Chinese schools in the state.

MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting visited SRJC Kong Min (Second Branch), SRJC Chiao Nan, SMJK Chung Ling, Chung Ling (Private) High School and SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian yesterday where he presented a total of RM650,000.

Also present were his deputy Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy and state MCA leaders.

Chung Ling board of governors chairman Datuk Oo Jooi Tee said the schools were grateful for the allocation.

“I am pleased that the MCA president has given us his assurance that the Government will continue to support Chinese vernacular schools. His commitment is very heartening,” he said, adding that the money would go towards the schools’ development fund.

The MCA leaders later joined Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon at the new site for SM Phor Tay in Sungai Dua.

Dr Koh, who is also Gerakan acting president, announced that RM1mil had been given for SM Phor Tay’s relocation and new school building fund.

“We are very grateful to Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, who approved the school’s relocation last year. He gave us the green light in a short span of three months,” said Dr Koh.

“This shows that the Barisan Nasional Government is always ready to help all schools regardless of whether it is a vernacular or national school.”

Ong, who is also Housing and Local Government minister, told newsmen that both the MCA and Gerakan jointly applied for the government allocation.

“This is an example of what a close working relationship between Barisan component parties can achieve. If we pool our resources together and use it well, we can achieve a lot and bring about prosperity for the people of Penang,” he said, adding that unlike the Opposition which could not even agree on the number of seats, all Barisan component parties were sincere in cooperating with each other.

“The Opposition’s relationship is one of convenience. We have always stressed on sincerity when dealing with each other for the benefit of the people.

“I am confident that the strength of Barisan lies in the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding between all component parties,” he said, adding that the MCA and Gerakan shared a general consensus and would work together closely to address Chinese issues.

So is it ‘em crumbs again for the non-bumiputeras.

What is MCA doing? Nothing??? Did the MCA make any money from the RM4.6 billion PKFZ scandal? What is Kang Kong Choy (Chan Kong Choy) doing about the bus crashes, ferry crashes and more?

KICK MCA OUT.

MCA is disposable to the rakyat

Posted in dap, elections, mca, politics by jedyoong on January 23rd, 2008

Dear rakyat sejahtera,

Semoga selamat dan bahagia.

Pilihan raya umum semakin dekat. Dan ahli-ahli politik semakin berkerja kuat sehingga Perdana Menteri Abdullah Badawi telah membatalkan skim “lawatan sambil belajar” buat sementara.

As a Malaysian of Chinese origin, saya mendesakkan kawan-kawan Cina yang tidak berbahasa Cina supaya “ignore” MCA yang semakin dikuasai oleh puak Cina yang berbahasa Cina yang suka memanggil kami yang fasih dalam bahasa Inggeris sebagai “banana Chinese”.

Penyelidikan politik MCA telah membahagikan masyarakat Cina mengikut klasifikasi sukahati mereka iaitu G1, G2, G3, etc. Memang seronoknya mereka mendapati bahawa sebahagian besar masyarakat Cina masih berbahasa Cina dan mengalu-alukan tradisi Cina seperti sekolah Cina, suratkhabar Cina, dll.

What has MCA done all these years? It hardly speaks up for the Chinese but instead threatens the Chinese with violence, I feel. What are all these reminders of the 1969 massacre of Chinese? Is the MCA suggesting that if UMNO loses power, the Chinese will be slaughtered?

Why do we need the MCA in government? We don’t! It’s lie! Cos they do nothing much but enrich themselves and their cronies, it seems. We don’t need the MCA in government. With or without them, things will be the same. So might as well get them out. Cut a layer of bureaucracy.

I urge all MCA supporters to boycott the party this General Election. If you wish, you may vote for DAP, if you find that it has a candidate who appeals to you in your constituency.

Sekian terima kasih.

PS. Kawan-kawan “banana Chinese” yang akan berhijrah, sila abaikan pos ini.

PPS. My Malay sux but it’s still better than my Chinese.
