You said it right. While most ppl believe that Islam ask its adherents to stay away from pigs because they (the pigs) are dirty, I believe that it’s because their make-up is very similar to man. Without pork, the price of the other meat will definitely increase and poor man like me will be the first mangsa. I read somewhere that it is also good for the brain so I wonder whether Einstein took any. Talkin about mutual respect, I noticed beef is served at all functions where Hindus are present. To be honest, sometimes i wonder how pork taste and has no repulsion towards it personally ( pork chops looks good..) but the only reason i stay away from it is because Islam prohibits it so.. The finer details of its prohibition as you pointed out are many medical problems arise form pig rearing. Teania solium, jap encephalitis, MDR salmonella are just some examples of exclusive pig related diseases.. Go ahead and eat it, but do have empathy on your fellow muslims who have to samak themselves ( clean with 6 times water and 1 time earth mix water ) whenever they accidentally touch anything porcine, how would they feel living nearby a pig farm?
