Why doesn’t Star print such photos of Kota Bahru?

Posted in democracy, elections, islam, life, media, mind control, politics by jedyoong on March 7th, 2008

Children at a 7-11 store

2
A young man supporting Husam Musa on nomination day. No, he didn’t try to kill me…And I was in knee-length shorts and a short-sleeved t-shirt….

3
More men on nomination day….Didn’t try to kill me too…

4
The owner of a restaurant at a beach just outside the city centre. He is a staunch PAS supporter. It was quite funny. When his family heard that Nik Aziz may have won, his wife asked him if they still needed to vote. Managed to “escape death” it seems. I had a nice chat with him about politics and life. And BN…..Nope, didn’t try to kill me.

5
One of my favourite food: Deep-fried sotong. YUM YUM :) The sotong was dead, so it couldn’t try to kill me….

6
At a mosque where Husam spoke. But there were also Malay women in hot clothes without tudung spotted. Anyway, they won’t force us to wear tudung.

7
Ah the carefree life in Kota Bahru…

hey Jed! thanks for the cool pix, and your honest, impartial coverage of the situation in my hometown :) prayers from Colorado for continuous PAS governance in Kelantan, and a strong, shocking statement from the Rakyat for the rest of the nation!!

    Fingers crossed. ;) Tks!

MSM blockout… they need to show tht Kelantan is backwards… opposition controlled state is lacking and lagging…

but Kelantan, as showed in ur photos is just the same with any state (if not better) in malaysia…. no vote to BN from me..

Before I visited Kelantan way back in the early 90s, I had horrible ‘premonitions’ of being abducted by religious fanatics! The reality was something else altogether. Completely. I’ve never met such friendly, humble, warm and helpful people. Things inevitably change, but I hope they stay that way forever.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. That’s how I felt! Ha ha ha ha ha. ;)

I have been to Kota Bharu to visit my uncle recently. The people are totally friendly, and strangely I feel less racial tension here than Kuala Lumpur despite that I am not a muslim.

  13. Nur Muhammad said, on March 7th, 2008 at 10:41 am

Those are beautiful pictures, so carefree, friendly, there is time for everything, especially love and care. But of course you can also capture physical development in KB, many good hotels and shopping complexes full of people, good food at very reasonable prices, and if you travel to the outskirts and the kampongs and small towns the kampong houses are very beautiful, from good to high quality, creative designs. What I can conclude is that generally, kampong folks in Kelantan are much better off than folks in other states.
Suggest you get more pictures of typical kampong scenerio.
    Are Kelantanese really backword ?
    Ore Klate jawabk.T.Q

They are really open in thought. That’s what I liked. ;) And it’s the sincerity that bowled me over. Prob cos it’s so rare in KL…. ;)

jed good of you ! let those stupid blind umno/bn supporter & ssshit licker star see red ! maybe they thought we are in the stone age without medias ! what are stupid star editors, reporters ,bn arselickers etc. yet proud to be associated with umno/bn corrupters in Malaysia ! congrats jed for your honesty :)

I know. Of ALL the photos they put, they put the cliche one. Then again, I think we have to look beyond appearances…The PAS supporters felt like decent, homebodies…. ;) So what if they dressed differently if they are morally upright? Better right? Then have some UMNO warlord demand more and more $$$ from you and biz?

Nice pictures! But what is this thingy about “Trying to kill you” about? Sorry for I did not ge the message.

Some guy wrote that Muslims want to kill Christians…To prove my point…. ;)

    Hi Jed,

wow!! amazing photo. this is really an eye opener for me. especially the food…looks very yummy. where is it again?

Now you blog is officially in my bookmark under My Fav Blogs.

Hey, tks. ;) It’s the one near Pengkalan Chepa. Pantai Cahaya Bulan, I think….But I may be wrong… ;) It could be the other one too. The waves are too strong to swim, it looks. ;) But seaside breeze… The food in both Kuala Terengganu and Kelantan is really GOOD. ;) No beer though but then I hardly drink… ;)

  18. kbguy said, on March 7th, 2008 at 12:41 pm

well done again Jed. I don’t think they’ll kill you> Maybe you dress to kill them. haha.. !
But just an advice, don’t wear shorts to any mosque, even in KL. Not even knee length. Not a proper dress code. If in Masjid negara, they’ll lent you a covered dress to your feet. Maybe in Kelantan, as long as it looks decent and not at any big mosque, it should be fine. Maybe they are just been polite.
Nice photos too. Got some more to share ? please promote Kelantan to the world !!! haha…

Hey, tks KB. Some guy commented in a previous post that Muslims are out to kill Christians..Ha ha ha. Was quite worried and wanted to see their reaction to my dressing actually ;) Survived and they are so open and friendly…..I don’t believe the papers these days…Esp after WCW’s PAS rant and erm, the one-sided photos of the crowd in the BN ceramah when Opposition ceramahs are drawing record crowds

Thank you so much for the picture essay. Now I don’t have to take my wife to Kota Bahru to see for herself that You know lah now everything naik. PAS won’t kill us and force the woment to wear tudung. Their way of life is simple and joyful in deep contrast to KL money grabbing and everything boleh. No wonder the nation as a whole is in a mess!

Yes. Life is so peaceful and easy. I’m sure with its stresses too…But I felt so safe, esp for a woman. You won’t believe how dangerous KL feels these days….KL is kiasu, cutthroat city….Tks ;)

Thanks for the lovely pics… Those kids (first on top) are really cute!!!

Anyways, BN tried to scare non-Malays esp. those living in other parts of the country so that they won’t vote for PAS.

But the fact is, there are many non-malays living in Kelantan and yes, like you said, they don’t get killed or harrassed by the PAS government!!!

They do live in perfect harmony with one another!!!!

I really hope that PAS will still govern Kelantan after tomorrow (march 8)!!!!

    Insya-Allah (God willing)…

Keep up the good work Jed and would like to see more great photos, especially the nice beaches and more foodsssssss.

Tks! ;) But I think no bikinis….re beer, just buy from thailand lah ;) or go across to enjoy lah ha ha ha ha ha ;) but southern thailand also mostly muslim…. ;) it’s near the islands, islands got alcohol….

    Hi jed…
    Nice pics and comments…
Actually one should afraid of the non practising muslims as they are not afraid of god’s wrath…thus giving bad image to Islam.
The ones following *true islamic teachings* wont do you any harm…. :-]

After a few days in KB, I agree with “The ones following *true islamic teachings* wont do you any harm…. :-]”. There is a wholesome goodness about the youth that I met on nomination day. Even on the BN side, the “rempits” were more decent than the typical young man in KL. Perhaps it’s city living but I believe that development includes mental and social progress. I felt really safe in KB. You must try to understand how a woman may feel in KL, esp if she takes public transport at night. Although my neighbourhood is quite safe, there are more and more cases of snatch thefts, robberies, break-ins, etc. :) What’s the point of all that money if you can’t even have peace of mind or need all that alcohol, drugs or entertainment to “de-stress”? It’s also my inclination. I am a beach bum. ;)

    Greetings,
Nice tagline gu, ‘didn’t try to kill me’, really like your sense of humscynicism (portmanteau of humour, cynicism, & sceptical :)).

If you’d like to experience weekly social gathering in Kb I recommend you to go to Pejabat Pas near Hotel Ansar on Friday, around 8am, where MB Kelantan has his official weekly spiritual talk. It’s kinda happening becoz bros & siss, aunts & uncles from all around kelantan gather there to listen to him every week, besides running some groceries errands…

Next time I think you shud inform the pakcik kedai that you will publish photos of him kedai in your blogsite, I’m sure he’ll cut you some discount. Hell maybe it will be free with xtra special vip menu. Hahaha…
I suggest you put a comment on budu too… hahaha…

I’m not threatened by them propagandas, coz I believe in my Lords Superiorities. Least, there’s echoes thruout the universe rite, ‘Truth will Prevail’. Or maybe Truth Prevails…

Ironically that is the only state with a true Ketuanan melayu culture that portrays warmth and heartful of hope I hope BN does not spoil the tranquility of Kelantan.

Bukan anak Kelante but I love that state and even if PAS rules so what if you don’t steal and covert others wife u tak kena potong tangan or rejam with el batu….. but we all know which goons will be without LIMBS …… u guessed right!!!!! The blue posters a plenty. Make a pic sesama kita memperjuangkan bangsa demo dan kawe….. How I long those fun carefree days where the ugly politics and distrust just never existed.

Tun reflect on your misdeeds sooner and once again enjoy retirement U ARE NOT GOD SO PLEASE DON’T TRY TO UNDO YOU BULNDERS…. aka tikus baiki LABU!!!!!!
No time for sentiments it is NOW AND THE RAKYAT IS NOT AS DUMB WITH ALL YOUR PAST RACIAL rhetorics- 100% with Tok Guru Main Stream Media can never tarnish a local icon not like u weak BN hancos need followers to look strong. Actual fact scared of their own shadow and even their own family…..VK Limgam an example…. Korek…Korek…korek

    Hi Jade..
The first and second pics really remind me of my school days in Kelantan..Those good old days and great times I had with friends..How I miss doing what the boys on the bike doing. It was really safe back then..I used to cycle alone at midnite after night class with kebun getah at both sides of the road for a year.It was pretty scary and dark, but luckily nothing happened to me..
I’m particularly proud of the good relationship the muslims have with non-muslims and we live in harmony..Everybody speaks fluent Kelantanese dialect and I have Chinese friends who cannot speak proper bahasa Malaysia but excel in the dialect..Unlike other parts of the world, the non-muslims in Kelantan are not threatened/worried about the Islamphobia thingy. I thank PAS for this. When the leaders are not greedy and follow the true teachings of Islam, peace and development will be achieved effortlessly.

I wish I could go back and vote for my favourite party.

  55. [...] Did the Barisan Nasional-controlled government underestimate the power of the alternative media? I don’t think so. The BN-controlled mainstream media, including the electronic media (television and radio stations), practically starving their readers and audience of news on the Opposition. In fact, weeks before Polling Day, The Sun newspaper was acquired a pro-BN supporter; and with it, the paper delievered similar news as the other mainstream nedia. I certainly will treat you. You had done your part as an eye opener to those who had a wrong impression of Kelantan. Well done and enjoy yourself.

Will be happy to show you to ‘Çino Kapong’ ’s houses along the Kelantan river bank where our fore fathers came to Kelantan.. you’ll see typical original Kelantanese Chinese livestyle and i believe it’s a very much similar locally assimilated culture like the Baba Nyonya of Melaka, if not more…

    Dear Jed,
Thanks for the photos. A friend also sent me photos of Perak MB visiting and paying respect to those killed in the Malayan Flourmill tragedy. The photos includes those of him consoling the deceased 10 years old daughter. The pain of losing her father clearly shows and brought tears to my eyes (even though I am the type that hates crying men… not macho mah…). The MB’s acts really touches me as it reminds us that compassion knows no boundaries. It transcends race and religion. But as you and I know, these photos will never show on the MSM.
